Phlebotomists... who likes them??

The boys had to get their blood drawn today. Anthon was just getting his quarterly A1C (diabetes test)... that wasn't bad, but poor Roman! He has what they call breast milk jaundice where there's an enzyme in my milk his body can't digest & that enzyme converts the bilirubin back into its original form so his body can't excrement it. The condition usually goes away by the time babies turn 2 months, but he still can't digest that darn enzyme yet! So, they wanted check his bilirubin again & do a few other tests (to make sure he's not anemic since elevated bili levels for an extended period of time can cause anemia). The dang lady tried to get a line in his arm- CRAZY right?!? I can't even FEEL any veins in his arm, much less SEE one! Of course all she did was hurt him & then ended up pricking his heal anyway : ( . I was hoping we could get enough blood for all the tests with just one poke (& we did once she pricked his heal),but for some reason she wanted to stick his arm! I'm just thankful Anthon was there to hold him down... I couldn't do it!
I mean, look at that punim... I could never be a Phlebotomist!
PS- Anthon decided to cut all his hair off when I was in TX, too. I guess we both had the same thought- "I'll do it while we're apart that way he/she can't tell me 'No'!" :D

Home Sweet Home

We got home around 6pm yesterday- it wasn't too bad of a drive (by that I mean the 12 hours went by fast). Roman did better than I'd expected; he did melt down a time or two, but I would too if I was stuck in a hot car seat hour after hour!! Here are some more pictures of our trip:

Just us hanging out!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Well, I turn a quarter of a century today... yep the big 25! Most people I know were kind of depressed when they turned 25; Sure I'm getting older & fatter but I honestly can't remember a time in my life when I've ever been this happy!! I'm still SO in love with Anthon & I'm SO THANKFUL everyday to have Roman- They truly are my GREATEST joys!! So, bring it on Father Time- I'll welcome this milestone with open arms!
Another reason this birthday is so great is because I get to go on a road trip with my mom & brother Peter to Texas to see my sister, Gwen, & her family! Anthon wanted to come too, but didn't want to lose the time off of work so he's letting me & Roman go anyway. We're heading to Show Low tonight & then on to Lubbock in the morning. Can't wait to see you Pace, Gwen, Syd, & Drew!!

2 month check up

Roman is 2 months old today... How is that possible?? Time is flying by SO fast!! He's such a fun boy & we just can't get enough of him! His stats today were:

* 12.9 lbs (75 %)
*24.5 in. tall (95 %)
*40 cm head (50%)

Ok, is it just me or do you other new mothers get a renewed sense of accomplishment when the doctor tells you to "keep up the good work" with your baby?? I love hearing that a professional thinks I'm doing a good job... it makes me less insecure in my role as a mother!
He got 4 vaccines & his bilirubin check at the appointment- NOT FUN! Poor kid- he turned purple he was yelling so hard! Thankfully, Anthon held him so I didn't have to! Look at those pouty lips! He smiled & cooed at me once we got home, so at least I can be reassured that he's still my buddy!

Roman's Blessing

Sunday was really special! Anthon was kind of nervous, but he did a great job in giving Roman a very sweet blessing. Some of the things I remember Anthon blessing him with are the knowledge that his Heavenly Father & parents love him, a healthy body, strong mind with a desire to learn, and testimony of the gospel. There was more, but that's all I can remember at the moment. After sacrament, we all came back to our house & had fresh fruit & veggies with dip and chicken salad sandwiches. I am SO THANKFUL for Roman & Anthon- who would've thought life could feel this perfect?!
The weather was beautiful- very BRIGHT, but still beautiful : )

Here's our little man- he was so happy all day!

Us with my mom & brother, Peter... Love them!

Grandpa & Grandma Perkins & all the Perkins cousins

It was a FULL house, but we had a lot of fun! Thank you to all who came & supported us : )
