Disappointed...

Yesterday was a hard day for me. I had my 3rd trimester ultra sound in the morning & have been looking forward to seeing our baby FOREVER, since my last ultra sound was when we found out He was a boy at 18 weeks! We got up & got ready & as we're sitting in the waiting room I start to feel a little nauseated- I'm thinking "Ok, it's a little warm in here, I'll go stand outside for a minute." I do that & start to feel better, so I go back inside to wait. A couple minutes later this family walks in (& when I say family, I mean White Trash mom with her daughter who couldn't have been older than 15, & her loser like 17 year old boyfriend) & they STINK! I mean REAK- like cigarettes, motor oil, trailer trash, dirt, sweat, anything fowl you can possibly imagine! I tried to tolerate the smell for a minute or two & just as I turned to tell Anthon "I'm going to puke!", I only have time to get up & RUN! Yep, bye, bye breakfast! Thankfully, the nurse called us back right after I was finished so I didn't have to bare the smell again.
Yeah! The worse part is over, time to see our baby! WRONG!! His head was so far down they couldn't even get a shot of his profile- I didn't get to see anything I recognized on the ultrasound except for his internal organs (which I AM thankful he has & that they are working properly, but DANG IT!! I wanteed to see HIM)!! So the tech wraps her measuring up, wipes the goo off my tummy & says "Well, he's big. He weighed 5lbs 3 ounces today (should be measuring at about 3- 3.5 lbs), so your doctor will go over the results with you at your next appointment. Have a nice day." Great, so now I'm stewing over in my mind what THAT can possibly mean! As we're walking back out to the car ( & yes, the STINK bombs were still infesting the lobby as we exited) I just started crying- PATHETIC, I know! I was SO disappointed with the whole ordeal that it was all I could do; I had anticipated that appointment so much & the reality was SO crappy (it happens, I know but CRAPPY)! Thankfully, Anthon is sweet & wanted to try & make my day better so he took me out to lunch & then we went & got pedicures together (which is a double bonus for me- I get my toes done & don't have to help him with his)! Hopefully, my darn hormones can calm down & I can be a little more optimistic & grateful at my next appointment!

It's never fun when an ultrasound doesn't turn out. Maybe they'll move you due date up :) That would be a plus

Oh Ashleigh, you had every right to be disappointed. I get teary when I read the post... if that gives you any indication of how your hormones will change (or not) during the next couple months! But it's so worth EVERYTHING once you get the baby. And, big babies Rock!

Poor girl!! I had no idea you were that upset. It is the hormones, but reality tends to aid in the trauma of course. Good thing your hubby is so sensitive. We love you both!! And yeah, pedicures make most things a lot better. :) PS - Mom says to tell you she loves you and she misses you. :)

And may I echo Katie's comment - "Maybe they'll move up the date! That WOULD Be a plus!!" Speaking from experience... and selfishness of my wanting to be there as long as possible after the baby comes. :)

What a bummer. It's hard when you are built up for something and it doesn't happen! But hey at least you get a third trimester ultrasound. My doctor only does a 1st and 2nd. So no more peeks for me!

Hey Ashleigh,
I am so excited for you guys! I like to follow all of the prego girls in the family so I check your blog once in a while, you look great! I had a similar experience with an ultrasound where my baby had her head down and wouldn't let us see her! I was so sad because they were even trying to get a 3D shot but she just wouldn't cooperate. Good luck with everything!
