¡¡7 MORE DAYS!!

I finally got to see my doctor this morning... YAY!! She said I'm still dilated to 2 cm & that the baby's head was in a good position. I was a little disappointed that I haven't made any progress since they last checked me, but she stripped my membranes (that was fun) so maybe that will help my body move along a little more quickly. The really good news is she scheduled me for an induction one week from today, January 5th. I was a little annoyed that I'm being induced only ONE day before my due date - Meagan, tell me you feel my pain :). However, I'm going to try & focus on the fact that I WON'T be going overdue & I'm going to be grateful for that! I gained another 4 lbs over the last 2 weeks (which puts me at 25 lbs)... Can I just say how much I am looking forward to having my body back to "normal"- It'll be great to be able to shave my legs, tie my shoes, paint my toes without feeling like I'm going to suffocate!

This big belly is DEFINITELY getting in the way :)

Merry Christmas!!

This year my thoughts have been really drawn to Mary (probably because I'm 9 months pregnant & am anticipating the birth of my 1st son, so I feel like I can relate to her in some degree)! I've been pondering over everything that she went through & am SO inspired by her... I am amazed that she traveled so far on a donkey & then delivered in a stable (I can't even imagine how uncomfortable she must have been); besides already having the overwhelming knowledge that she was carrying the Only Begotten of the Father! What a strong woman she must have been! We watched the church video "Joy to the World" for Christmas eve & my heart was full when it showed the scene of Mary admiring the newly born Jesus- What a beautiful gift!! I hope all of you felt the love, joy, and inspiration of this wonderful season & have had the chance to reflect on the beautiful story that is depicted in the nativity!

The end is near... I think

I had another ultra sound yesterday to check the baby's size & yep, he's still in the 97% for growth. They said he weighs 7 lbs. 15oz- That's right, only 1 oz shy of 8lbs @37 weeks ("Normal" sized babies are in the 6lb. range @ 37 weeks)! They also said my amniotic fluid was low (still in the normal range, but at the low end) so I'm going in for another ultrasound on the 23rd to check the fluid levels.
I went this morning to review the ultrasound results with my Dr. & talk about the possibility of an induction, but she got called in for surgery so I didn't even get to see her! Instead I saw one of the mid-wives; she just cultured me for strep B (fun, fun), told me I was dilated to 2 cm. (Woo-Hoo) , and said I should come back next week to talk to my Dr. about the induction. BUT when I went to schedule my appointment they told me the Dr. was on vacation all next week- ERR!! I guess I'm just going to have to be patient... it's NOT that I'm all gung-hoe for being induced or eager to get him out right now, but this is my 1st time going through this & I'd just like a little insight as to what the game plan is going to be! I kinda like having a plan & KNOWING what the plan entails!
In other exciting news, I've gained 5 more pounds between my last two visits (for a total weight gain of 21 lbs) ... I'm feeling it (& seeing it), let me tell you!! Oh well, the end will come soon enough!!

(T minus 20 days & counting)

Temple Lights

Last night we got to go see the Christmas lights on the temple grounds- it was GREAT to get out of the house on a Sunday evening for a change (I'm sad to admit that we usually waste them away in front of the TV)! It was a little chilly, but chilly is a welcomed feeling for me since it seems like I'm sweating non-stop these days & can never cool off! The lights were beautiful, as always, and it was just nice to walk around in such a pleasant atmosphere & visit with Anthon!

Woo-Hoo for Finals!!

So, I'm normally not excited for finals week in school, but this semester I am! This is my last semester of prerequisites- I took my Microbiology lab final today & once I take my lecture final on the 17th I'll be DONE (for a little bit at least)! YAY for a break! I'm submitting my application for the nursing program this month (that is, if GAY Show Low High School will ever send me a copy of my transcripts I've requested like 5 times!), so I'll have a break from school for however long I have to wait to start the program (anywhere from 6 months- 2 years). After I start the program it's only 2 more years & I'll actually be TOTALLY FINISHED!! Woo-Hoo! I feel like the end is finally nearing : ).

Family Shower

My family threw me a baby shower this past Saturday & it was WONDERFUL!! I had such a great time visiting with everyone, eating the yummy food, playing games & opening all the awesome presents (we got pretty much EVERYTHING else we needed)!! I only have a couple pictures right now that my cousin e-mailed to me so I'll post them. THANK YOU everyone who put in their time to plan/organize the party, and to everyone that came & celebrated with me!! FAMILIES ARE THE BEST!

Chase Shower

The people I work with threw me a baby shower last night... it was SO MUCH FUN!! They just had it at the branch right after we closed & had dinner for everyone (Which was FABULOUS by the way)! I had such a good time- here are some pictures of the festivities: (*Top picture: Brian, Tony, & Justin- guys that braved the shower! *Bottom picture: Yvette & Anjie holding Drew- the hostess with the most-ess!)
Some of the awesome things we got include diapers, clothes, & toys-THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who came!!

Big Baby Update

I had my Dr. appointment this morning to go over the results of my 3rd trimester ultra sound & can I just tell you how much I LOVE my Dr?! She's SO great- very personable & friendly & just puts all my worries at ease! She's easier to talk to than some of the nurse practitioners/ midwives I've seen & I'm just really thankful she's so good! I gained 4 more pounds over the past 3 weeks (at least it wasn't 6 AGAIN) so that puts me up to 16 lbs total- She was happy with that, so I guess I am too :). Anyway, she agreed with the ultra sound tech- the baby is big (she said a lot of her patients that deliver at 38 weeks have 5-6 lb. babies & mine was 5lb. 3 oz @ 32 weeks). Another thing she said that was funny was that my uterus is measuring 31 inches (which is what it should measure at 31 weeks and I'll be 33 weeks tomorrow), so I'm "just ALL baby up in there!" - a direct quote :).
What's the plan now? I'm going to have another ultra sound at 37 weeks to see His size (& HOPEFULLY get to see HIM, but I'll try not to get my hopes up this time) & depending on how that goes she said I can probably plan on having him that next week (which is Christmas :-S) or the week after- I'm hoping for the week after Christmas, but whatever happens happens.

Time flies when you're having fun!!

Has it REALLY been 7 years since I decided Anthon should be more than my friend?!?! It doesn't seem possible, but it's true! November 17, 2001 was our first actual date (NOT just hanging out as friends, but DATE as in "I think I might like you" date). I asked him to MORP, the girls ask guys dance- it's prom spelled backwards, people :). We went to watch dirt bike races, saw "Shallow Hal", had dinner, danced the night away, laughed a ton, but never so much as held hands! It wasn't until a month to the day later that we had our first kiss! I sure am glad I took him though :)!

Pace Andrew Rawlins

A lot of you know my sister Gwen & her husband Pace, but don't have access to her blog (since it's private) so I thought I'd share their good news... she had a baby boy on Sat. Nov. 15th! He weighed 8 lbs. 11 oz and was 20.5 inches long. They're calling him "Drew" for short- which I think is ADORABLE (& so is he)!!

Congrats Pace, Gwen, & Sydney!! We love you!!

Disappointed...

Yesterday was a hard day for me. I had my 3rd trimester ultra sound in the morning & have been looking forward to seeing our baby FOREVER, since my last ultra sound was when we found out He was a boy at 18 weeks! We got up & got ready & as we're sitting in the waiting room I start to feel a little nauseated- I'm thinking "Ok, it's a little warm in here, I'll go stand outside for a minute." I do that & start to feel better, so I go back inside to wait. A couple minutes later this family walks in (& when I say family, I mean White Trash mom with her daughter who couldn't have been older than 15, & her loser like 17 year old boyfriend) & they STINK! I mean REAK- like cigarettes, motor oil, trailer trash, dirt, sweat, anything fowl you can possibly imagine! I tried to tolerate the smell for a minute or two & just as I turned to tell Anthon "I'm going to puke!", I only have time to get up & RUN! Yep, bye, bye breakfast! Thankfully, the nurse called us back right after I was finished so I didn't have to bare the smell again.
Yeah! The worse part is over, time to see our baby! WRONG!! His head was so far down they couldn't even get a shot of his profile- I didn't get to see anything I recognized on the ultrasound except for his internal organs (which I AM thankful he has & that they are working properly, but DANG IT!! I wanteed to see HIM)!! So the tech wraps her measuring up, wipes the goo off my tummy & says "Well, he's big. He weighed 5lbs 3 ounces today (should be measuring at about 3- 3.5 lbs), so your doctor will go over the results with you at your next appointment. Have a nice day." Great, so now I'm stewing over in my mind what THAT can possibly mean! As we're walking back out to the car ( & yes, the STINK bombs were still infesting the lobby as we exited) I just started crying- PATHETIC, I know! I was SO disappointed with the whole ordeal that it was all I could do; I had anticipated that appointment so much & the reality was SO crappy (it happens, I know but CRAPPY)! Thankfully, Anthon is sweet & wanted to try & make my day better so he took me out to lunch & then we went & got pedicures together (which is a double bonus for me- I get my toes done & don't have to help him with his)! Hopefully, my darn hormones can calm down & I can be a little more optimistic & grateful at my next appointment!

"& The Best Husband Award Goes To..."

ANTHON PERKINS
My friend Kati had tickets to Scottsdale Fashion Week but couldn't make it, so she gave them to me (WAY SWEET of her!! Love her to DEATH!). Since none of my girlfriends could go for more than an hour or two, or not at all Anthon said he would take me! SERIOUSLY?? I mean, he does sit through Project Runway & America's Next Top Model when I watch those shows, but I never expected him to offer going to a fashion show with me! It was SO MUCH FUN!! We talked & laughed so much on our date & I LOVED the shows! He let me stay & watch 4 different designers showcase their collections & was a great sport about it! I've just really been enjoying our relationship (& friendship) these days! He's the BEST!!

Here are some pictures for all you Fashionista's of some of the designs I liked from each of the shows... ENJOY :).

I hope all of you did too! Like President Packer said in stake conference, we need to make a moral stand for what we believe in- & this election is the perfect time to stand up for what we know to be true! Even if this election doesn't turn out the way we hope, we don't need to fear- "Fear is the antithesis of faith!" Instead, we should live in faith; Things may become scarier in our country but if we live in faith we can still have peace & happiness in our own families :)!

Péãcé & £õvê

I LOVE Halloween & dressing up, so we had to coordinate my belly into our costumes this year- We decided to be Hippies/ Disco dancers (whatever you want to call them). People were pregnant in the 60's & 70's all the time right :)? As always, I got everything for our costumes at Savers & had a great time figuring them out! I wonder if I'll ever grow up enough to not want to dress up & go out for Halloween... I hope not :)!! Here are individual shots of our full costumes:

Anthon is always SO great at letting me have my fun with his costumes! I wish his hair could have grown just a little bit more, but he still looked perfect! His shoes were my favorite!!

My favorite thing on my costume had to be the flower pin I found- oh the shall was a close 2nd, but the pin was the icing on my cake!!

"That's a huge B"

B is for Belly! Here's the massive 30 week baby bump that I'm sporting these days. It seems like it just keeps shooting right out! I doubled my weight (which I HOPE isn't a new trend!) & gained 6 lbs at my last appointment- Which puts me at 12 lbs total. I'd like to especially thank McDonald's & Marble Slab for helping me accomplish this :) ! No, I'm totally fine with gaining weight- It's what's suppose to happen, right? I'm starting to notice it more in my cheeks now but I guess I can just find comfort in the fact that I'm only going to get bigger :).
Here's a picture of me bearing it all- Like my "rainbow" scar above my belly button?? I'm continually amazed at my bodies ability to grow just enough skin so I don't BURST :)!

An answer to our prayers!!!

As many of you know, my brother Jared has been missing since last December & my family had NO idea where he might be. Well, he has finally contacted our family (in the form of a letter that he left at the cabin he disappeared from)! I haven't gotten the chance to read the letter, but I guess in it he explains a lot, expresses his love, & hopes he might see us soon (but he didn't specify when). I'm just SO grateful that he's alive & is reaching out to us in some way!! It sounds like he's happy & in a better place spiritually... I know Heavenly Father has been watching over him & hearing our prayers!

Frustrating Day... With a Happy Ending.

My day today was pretty much nothing but frustrating for me! Let me explain the MAIN 3 reasons why (in order of occurrence & annoyance, coincidentally):
1* I FAILED my 1st gestational diabetes test so I had to go back in this morning to do the 3 hour long one. The fact that I had to take another test was not the problem (since the condition I had before I got pregnant, PCOS, made me insulin resistant & it's fairly common to have gestational diabetes among PCOS women... not that big of a shocker). The problem was I showed up @ 9:30am so that I would have plenty of time to do the 3 hour test & get to school on time. Mind you, this is a fasting test so I'm already STARVING! Well, I waited 45 minutes before they even called me up to look at my orders (AFTER I told them I was there for the 3 hour glucose screening when I signed in)! SO they drew my blood, I drank the drink, & had my blood drawn every hour for the next 3 hours. The REALLY fun part was they had to stick me @ least 2 times every time they did a draw (just because my veins are small & like to be uncooperative) so now I look like I've been shooting up heroine!
2* Since they started my test late, I was late to school. Normally, not the end of the world, but TODAY I had to do a group presentation to the class on the virus that causes chicken pox & shingles. So I was STRESSING the entire way to school worried that I would be late for my presentation, while I'm trying to INHALE some food! Well, once I get to class the first group was just finishing up their presentation; my group is next... WHEW! We go up to do our thing & find out my spacey teacher didn't make copies of our outline for the class, so she decides "Oops... you guys can just go Wednesday & hopefully I remember to copy them tomorrow." After all I went through to get here...ARE YOU SERIOUS???
3* I spent the majority of my weekend reading, writing, & ultimately perfecting a respiratory case history that was due today. Let me just say, I was very proud of my efforts & the out come of my paper (it was like our mid-term). All the time I'd spent thinking of nothing but Valley Fever & Tuberculosis this weekend turned out to be a waste when my teacher decided to announce at the end of class that she was extending the due date for 2 MORE WEEKS so we would have more time to study for our lab practical. OK, that info would've been more helpful on FRIDAY since our practical is this Wednesday & I could have used my weekend to study for that instead of focusing my efforts on the stupid case history!!

One positive thing that came from all my frustrations today... since I had 3 hours to kill I was able to finish reading the 4th book in the Twilight series... I love happy endings! I had a little bit of an epiphany, & I just want to say that I can totally relate to Bella's perspective about being over joyed that she & Edward REALLY will be together FOREVER!
It's a little sappy & pathetic but I couldn't help but think of the promise that I will have Anthon forever; He'll have me forever and we'll have our baby forever!! There's nothing better in this life than to have that knowledge & blessing!!

Buddha Belly...

Buddha Belly, Torpedo, basket ball, HUGE! There are a million ways I could describe my baby bump, but I think the best word has to be WONDERFUL! The 1st belly shot I posted was when I was 21 weeks- I'm now 27 weeks & you can defiantly see the growth of the past 6 weeks! I gained another 3 lbs. during this past month (Which puts me up to 6 lbs. total), so my Dr. was pretty happy at this months appointment :). I'm really enjoying being pregnant & feeling our little guy squirm around all day long! It's like we've been wanting this for SO long that it still doesn't quite seem possible that we're ACTUALLY having a baby... we're just enjoying this HUGE blessing in our lives (& he's not even here yet)!!

Nesting...

Lately I've been experiencing the UNCONTROLLABLE urge to clean everything in our home! I think I'm driving Anthon crazy with my constant pleas to go through all our junk & DONATE most of it! It's been really enjoyable for me though; I've felt like I've had very productive days : ). On top of the cleaning urges, I've been bitten by the decorating bug! My main project, as you can probably guess, has been the baby's room. Anthon has been very gracious in helping me with all of it... I COULDN'T have done it without him!! Although we're not 100% finished, here are some pictures of our progress:
This bedding was my inspiration for the colors we used in the room. The mobile isn't actually part of the original bedding set, but I think it goes good enough :).

We decided to put in a guest bed so visitors will have some place to sleep (getting excited Gwen??). A HUGE thanks goes to Michele for all your help with the vinyl... you're a life saver!

We obviously need to finish the wall above the crib- that's probably where we'll hang his name... IF WE CAN EVER AGREE ON ONE : )!

*In other exciting news, Anthon & I finally broke down & upgraded to a king size bed!! After 3 1/2 years of being married & being cramped in a queen, these last few months have been HORRIBLE for me- I just could NOT get comfortable, & in the rare occasions that I would, I would get woken up by snoring, just him moving, or a nice, swift elbow to the forehead. The most exciting part about it is how good of a deal we got!! I've had the bedding since last summer (tells you how long I've been BEGGING for a bigger bed) but the bed frame (which is SOLID wood) was only $100 & the mattress is a Serta dual top memory foam was only $150 BRAND NEW (thank you CraigsList!!). So in the 2 nights since we got it I've slept better than I have in the past 2 months!!

Don't worry, the wall isn't going to stay purple... that's my next project :)

YouTube video #2

As many of you already know (& have seen!) Anthon has a fetish with making up dances to songs that he likes, and his newest fad is to have me record these dances & post them on YouTube. This is only the 2nd time I've done it (cause it's too embarrassing to post A LOT of the dances he comes up with), but this one made me laugh! I love that he's such a goof & doesn't care what people think... it keeps me laughing!! I hope you all enjoy Anthon "Shakin' it" :)

Just A Random Update...

There's not a whole lot of new or exciting things going on with us, but I had a fun/interesting day so I figured "why not write about it?" My day started out by going to a Dr. appointment-She told me (AGAIN) to gain some weight, & I had to explain (AGAIN) that I'm NOT trying to not gain weight, if that makes any sense. I've gained a whopping 3 lbs in my 5 1/2 months of pregnancy, & apparently that's not good enough... I'll just have to eat more ice cream & see if that makes her happy :). She made me happy though because she helped me recognize my baby moving! She had me turn my phone onto vibrate & press it on my belly while she called it. As soon as it started ringing I could feel the little flutters- It was really neat!! Another fun trick she taught me is to put a medal spoon on my belly & then hit the spoon with another spoon; the "Clanking" noise makes him move around too :)!

My Dr. office is right by a Home Depot so after my appointment I stopped in & picked out the paint for our little guys room... I'm pretty excited about this project so I'll be sure to post pictures once it's complete!!

Last but not least, I learned about Nematodes (parasitic worms) in school today... GLAMOROUS, I know! I was pretty much grossed out the whole time I was learning how these nasty little creatures invade HUMAN bodies, reproduce, & spread! YUCK! & if that wasn't bad enough, I had to spend an hour & a half looking at them in lab... See how DISGUSTING?!?!Microbiology is SO NOT my field!! All I have to say is I will be washing my hands 10x more frequently than I already do & will NEVER walk bare foot out side again!!

Lego My Prego...

I decided it was time to start documenting the ever-growing mass that use to be my abdomen. I'm really rather enjoying being past the "I wonder if she's pregnant or if she's just put on some weight?" phase & actually looking like I have a baby bump! Isn't pregnancy fun :)?!?

I've Joined the Band Wagon!

I've finished reading the first 2 books in the Twilight series, started the 3rd, and am now admitting my addiction & utter anticipation for the movie to be released (like the REST of the world who has read the books)!! But I have to ask, is anyone disappointed that that same guy who played Cedric Diggory is now playing Edward???
He is SO NOT the breath taking beautiful guy, with perfect features & an intoxicating smile that I'd envisioned while reading!!

And the chick they have playing Alice... I was under the impression that her character was like the most beautiful thing EVER- the actress, um not so much! Maybe I'll feel different once I see the movie, but I'm NOT convinced right now!

I've taught him well : )

As many of you know, I've been stocking up on things we'll need for our baby for a LONG time (it was my therapy during the year & a 1/2 that I couldn't get pregnant) & I LOVE finding good deals on things! Over the past 2 years we've acquired a crib, crib mattress, crib bedding, stroller, 2 car seats w/ bases (1 for each car), high chair, porta-crib, swing, and (my favorite) SUPER cute diaper bag. Anthon has always been grateful of my enthusiasm to find things we need for a good price, but hasn't really been that involved in "the hunt" to find stuff. Well, I've been on the constant search for a gliding rocking chair, but could never find one I liked @ a decent price... ANTHON DID!This is Anthon's awesome find (one of his customers was trying to get rid of it before a move)! It's only a year old, & it's like brand new- it doesn't squeak at all when you rock in it and the cushions are really fluffy & comfortable!! I looked it up on Babies'R'Us.com to see how much it cost new- $200 for the chair, $100 for the ottoman... we paid $40 for BOTH!! I didn't think I'd like a cherry finish since all the other nursery furniture is white, but this one is too pretty to refinish! I'll see if I still like the color once we have everything put together in the baby's room, if not I'll make it into what I want it :).

Back from TX

I was able to go visit Gwen & her family in Lubbock Texas this past week (since it really was my last week of total, absolute, selfish freedom :). It was my last week of vacation for the year, school starts next week, & once this semester is over I'll have a baby)! I had a lot of fun, but being the retard I am, didn't take very many pictures. Our main project was decorating Sydney's room & the room for her new baby- Both turned out DARLING (check out Gwen's blog to see pictures)!! We went shopping one day & got some DANG good deals on baby clothes! We also indulged in the BEST frozen custard I have ever had- It's from a place called Sheridan's that we visited almost daily! It was great just to hang out & spend the days together- Thanks for having me :)!
I had a lot of fun hanging out with my little buddy, Sydney too!! We watched the GAY Wiggles A LOT (she loves Wally) & The Little Mermaid (one of my favorites growing up)! Plus, we just laughed a lot- She discovered what cross-eyes look like, courtesy of me, & was in hysterics for almost 30 minutes!! She's getting so big everyday, so it was nice just to be with her!
The trip home wasn't exactly thrilling- my flight got delayed not 1, not 2, but 4 HOURS & then there was BAD turbulence for most of the flight home. I did make some use of my time at the airport- I bought Twilight & New Moon from the ONLY gift shop in Lubbock airport (basically because they were the ONLY titles I recognized & they were on sale). All I have to say is, so far it's definitely living up to all the hype!

PS: Gwen, it took me 14 minutes to post this ;)

Compass Restaurant- Mmm!

Anthon's company treated us to dinner at the Compass Restaurant tonight. It was a pretty fun night... More about the experience than anything! It's on top of the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Phoenix, the restaurant is 360 degrees of windows, & it rotates as you sit there so you get a total view of the valley. We were there right at sunset, so it was REALLY pretty!! It was definitely a once in a life time experience and the food was really good- We got an appetizer, salad, entree, & dessert. BUT I doubt we'll be going back with the $85 per person price tag - Thanks Preventive Pest Control for footing the bill :)!

Anthon with his shrimp appetizer!

My entree- NY steak & broccoli!
